We encourage shared decision-making

Moreno Valley College's comprehensive shared governance process strives to address the varied needs of higher education, from serving our College's academic needs to ensuring institutional resources are used with responsibility. With the combined effort of students, faculty, classified professionals, and administration, we continually work toward upholding the highest quality of education and helping students reach their lifelong goals.

MVC's shared governance groups fall in three primary areas focusing on academics, operational planning, and student and campus equity. College advisory and event committees also assist in tackling specific operational needs as well as long and short term topics and issues. MVC's Program Review process ensures continual evaluation and improvement of College programs and resource use.

Ensuring Academic Excellence

The Moreno Valley College Academic Senate (MVCAS), composed of elected faculty representatives, makes recommendations to the College administration and to the Board of Trustees regarding academic and professional matters (defined by AB1725, Section 53200) and facilitates communication among faculty, students, administration, and the Board of Trustees in all matters related to community college education.

Planning with Accountability

The purpose of the Strategic Planning Council is to provide integrated planning based on sustainable, continuous quality improvement, with the full participation of faculty, staff, students, and administrators, as they pertain to the four ACCJC accreditation standards and shared governance.

Making Positive Impacts

The Student Equity and Achievement Committee will promote, initiate, coordinate, and recommend strategies which enhance student equity and student academic achievement at MVC.

Committing to Continuous Review

Program Review is a regular process of institutional assessment and analysis of MVC services and programs. Program Review acts as a collaborative goal-setting process, assists MVC in allocating resources and effort, and identifying and documenting deliverable outcomes.
