Academic Counseling and Educational Support

The ACES program offers qualifying students a strong academic support system and learning community that will assist them in mastering their college transitions.

Associated Students of MVC

ASMVC provides students with leadership opportunities including student government, clubs and organizations, and co-curricular programs. Join ASMVC and discover the countless ways you can get involved.

CalWORKS

CalWORKs helps you achieve self-sufficiency through employment and education with counseling, employment assistance, resource referrals, and intensive joint case management with the County Welfare to Work program.

College Corps

As a state-funded annual volunteer program, College Corps offers qualifying MVC students the chance to serve at local community organizations in exchange for a significant educational stipend.

Disability Support Services

Every student deserves equal access at MVC. DSS provides accommodations to help students with unique challenges meet their desire for knowledge and dreams of success.

Employment Placement

Employment Placement connects students with employers, assists with resumes and interviewing and holds various workshops throughout the semester to help students get workforce-ready.

EOPS/CARE/NextUp

EOPS, CARE and NextUp are state-funded programs that to go the extra mile for educationally and economically disadvantaged students by offering personalized help over the course of their college careers.

Guardian Scholars

Guardian Scholars is committed to supporting foster families in the MVC community, providing special programs dedicated to serving the unique needs of foster youth and foster parents. 

Honors Program

The Honors Program is a learning community that encourages students to expand personal and academic horizons with smaller, more challenging classes, research opportunities and transfer partnerships.

MESA Program

MESA empowers and supports educationally disadvantaged students pursuing a degrees in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics through academic, financial, and professional development resources.

Middle College High School

The Middle College program allows high school juniors and seniors to complete their last two years of schooling at MVC, to earn both their high school diploma and an associate degree or certificate.

Monty's Market

Monty's Market is an on-campus food pantry open to enrolled MVC students who may be experiencing hardship or food insecurity. From free meals to basic necessities to nutritional programming, Monty's Market helps fulfill students' basic needs.

Puente Program

The MVC Promise provides free or reduced tuition to assist first-year students with the cost of college. Additional support for each cohort includes tailored support services to ensure each student's academic success.

Puente Program

Puente removes barriers to higher education by empowering students to develop leadership skills, awareness, cultural pride and identity. With career guidance and academic rigor, students more easily transfer to university programs.

Student Employment

Student Employment helps students earn money for educational expenses and build resume experience. Part-time student jobs offer flexible schedules that work around classes.

TRIO Programs

MVC's five federal TRIO programs for high school, college and Veteran students identify and deliver services to individuals with potential from disadvantaged backgrounds, so they find college success.

Umoja Community

The African/African American/Black community is rich in history, empowerment and possibilities. Umoja exists to foster community, positive self-identity and encourage proud interaction. 

Veterans Services

MVC empowers Veterans with access to services tailored to their unique needs — including a vibrant on-campus Veteran community, a dedicated support team, and resource center.

DACA and Dreamers

The MVC campus is a safe space dedicated to learning first and foremost — you have the right to an education, without threat or fear, and may qualify for financial aid as part of the the California Dream Act if you meet the criteria. 

LGBTQIA+ and Allies

MVC's Pride Center offers assistance to help individuals learn about sexual orientation and gender identity issues. The Pride Center strives to advance and foster a safe environment conducive to learning, self-expression and happiness.

Special programs are initiatives to help students and encourage our community. While some are available to all students, like student health services, others are specific to individual groups of students with identified needs that can be addressed.

Learn more about each program to find out how it specifically helps. Most special programs are focused on helping with education by providing financial, study, guidance or other forms of support. Other special programs offer an avenue for individuals to “find their tribe”, share ideas, identity and celebrate what makes them unique.

The first step is always ask questions and learn about the program/group. Each has a dedicated webpage on the MVC website that you can review, you can attend a meeting or workshop (if offered) or reach out by email, phone or in-person. How involved you get after that is up to you!
