Guidance classes at MVC are designed to help students develop skills to succeed in college and make effective career and life choices. Special topics courses related to various areas of academic career and personal development are also offered.

Guidance 45: Introduction to College

Ideal for students new to college, you'll learn how to find your way around campus, about your academic options, and know how to access support services. You'll develop a Student Educational Plan that allows you to track your progress toward accomplishing academic goals, outline your steps to transfer or graduate, and otherwise enhance your chances of college success.

Guidance 46: Introduction to the Transfer Process

As an Introduction to the transfer process, this class focuses on the university system and explains how higher education works in California. You'll become familiar with the application process, financial aid options, how to write a personal statement, and do major preparation as you prepare to transfer. Take this course if you have questions about university and how to decide on which school to transfer to.

Guidance 47: Career Exploration and Life Planning

Ever thought about what career or major you should go into? Career and Life Planning helps you clarify your values, identify skills, understand your temperament and personality, and explore the majors and careers that best fit your interests. Plus, learn how how to develop a resume and build interview skills that help with a successful job search in Guidance 47.

Guidance 48: College Success Strategies

Being a student in college isn't easy; it takes a lot of hard work and commitment. College Success Strategies focuses on the areas that students need to master in order to be successful in school, such as time management, study skills, money management, and health. Enhance your critican thinking skills and focus on personal growth and values.
