Strategic thinking and focused competition took center stage Nov. 13–14 as the iMake Innovation Center hosted its first two-day chess tournament, drawing students from across campus for a multi-round event centered on skill development and peer connection.

Juan C. Ramirez, an adjunct economics associate faculty member at Moreno Valley College and a longtime supporter of hands-on learning, has been awarded a United States patent for a new sports innovation designed to enhance athletic performance.

A new chapter in emergency medical training began this fall as the inaugural EMS 95 class concluded at Moreno Valley College’s Ben Clark Training Center, establishing the first local pathway for Mobile Intensive Care Nurse (MICN) training in Riverside County.

Moreno Valley College student Lauryn Chin has been selected by California Volunteers to serve as a College Corps Fellow Ambassador, representing both the college and the state in a program that provides students with hands-on service opportunities across California.

Riverside Community College District Foundation Development Officer Marie Thermidor has been recognized as the Philanthropic Leadership Honoree at the 2025 JPMorgan Chase Community ICONs awards, held Oct. 2 at the March Field Air Museum in Riverside.

Aliyah Nataly Alatorre, a student aide at Moreno Valley College, has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from Growing Inland Achievement (GIA) in partnership with the Mexican Consulate and IME Becas.
