Contribute to quality medical care
Medical transcriptionists assist medical practices with keeping accurate patient medical histories, from the results of diagnostic tests and treatments to symptoms. MVC offers two pathways to earning associate degrees and certificates in medical assisting, allowing students to focus on administrative and clinical skills or to specialize in medical transcription.
Program of Study
Transcriptionist/Health Documentation Specialist
Associate of Science and Certificate
The Transcriptionist/Health Documentation Specialist program prepares students to apply the knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and English language rules to the transcription, proofreading, and editing of medical records/reports dictated by various healthcare providers.
Students will be able to interpret, transcribe and/or edit dictation by healthcare professionals in order to provide a permanent medicolegal record of patient care. Students will also learn how to appropriately edit, revise, and clarify without changing the meaning of the document.
