The Classified Employee of the Year Award celebrates Moreno Valley College classified professionals whose dedication, leadership, and service make a lasting impact on students and the campus community. The award is part of the California Community Colleges Classified Employee of the Year program, which honors classified professionals across the state for their impact and service.

Recognizing Excellence

This award honors employees who exemplify professionalism, collaboration, leadership, and a commitment to student success through their daily work, service, mentorship, and meaningful contributions across the MVC community.

Nominated by Colleagues

Institutional nominations are driven by peers who recognize the outstanding work happening across MVC every day. The award provides an opportunity to celebrate colleagues whose dedication, leadership, and support make a meaningful difference to the college community.

Curriculum Program Coordinator
Sabina Fernandez, curriculum program coordinator in Moreno Valley College’s Division of Academic Affairs, was named MVC’s 2026 Classified Employee of the Year in recognition of her outstanding service, leadership, and commitment to student success. Through years of dedicated work supporting curriculum processes, faculty collaboration, and academic operations behind the scenes, Fernandez has become a trusted and essential resource across campus, helping keep the college moving forward with professionalism, care, and deep institutional knowledge.

About the Award

The California Community Colleges Classified Employee of the Year Award honors classified professionals who demonstrate outstanding commitment to service, leadership, professionalism, and equitable student outcomes. Eligible nominees must have at least five years of service within their community college district.

Each year, four recipients are selected across the Riverside Community College District, one at each college and for the District Office. One honoree is then advanced to represent the district in the statewide California Community Colleges Classified Employee of the Year recognition process.
