Course Transferability
Does your transfer coursework meet Dental Hygiene program requirements?
The Dental Hygiene program has several course pre-requisites that must be fulfilled prior to applying. If you are a transfer student, you may bring your coursework with you. Existing coursework is reviewed for equivalent learning through a process called evaluation.
- Science courses must be at least 4 semester units and include a lab component or a separate lab course must be taken in addition to the lecture course.
- Anatomy and Physiology courses must be taken at the same college to assure that all the necessary course information is covered unless each Anatomy course and Physiology course is a stand-alone course.
Course Equivalencies
The following chart has examples of courses from local colleges that are equivalent to the prerequisites courses required for the Dental Hygiene Program. This list is intended only to serve as a guide to assist students when they meet with counselors to make their educational plans. It is not intended to substitute for guidance from a college counselor or institution evaluation. A larger list for course equivalencies from all 115 California Community Colleges is available.
