Why pursue fire service leadership?

Company and chief officers are key members of a fire department's team. From handling training to developing department strategies and coordinating with outside entities, officers help ensure the safety of their company and manage daily operations.

What You'll Learn

  • The skills and knowledge expected of upper level management positions within the fire service, including the application of leadership, management, and ethical decision-making models.
  • The ability to analyze, strategize for, and develop tactics to respond and mitigate complex emergency scenarios.
  • How to develop mission-specific goals and strategies to support executive leadership and effectively manage fire department daily operations and all-risk situations.
  • How to competently apply and continuously analyze intergovernmental relationships between city, county, state, and federal agencies as they are defined in the National Incident Management system and the State of California Master Mutual Aid Plan.

Why choose MVC?

Moreno Valley College's School of Public Safety offers some of the region's largest public safety education and training programs at the Ben Clark campus.

Ben Clark and Fire Technology programs are the result of a partnership between MVC, the California Department of Forestry & Fire Protection, and the Riverside County Fire Department.

This program is fully accredited and is modeled after the California State Fire Marshal’s Company Officer and Chief Officer Certification program.
