Community College leaders from across the state were welcomed by MVC

Moreno Valley College has officially launched a collaboration with the Institutional Effectiveness Partnership Initiative (IEPI) Partner Resource Team, marking a structured process to strengthen marketing and professional development in support of student success. This statewide initiative of the California Community College Chancellor's Office consists of professionals dedicated to guiding the college in aligning its resources and programs directly with student needs and promoting innovation. The February 27 visit was the first step in this multi-visit partnership, establishing a foundation for institutional growth and long-term effectiveness.

Central to the discussions was the development of a comprehensive marketing plan for both internal and external communications. This plan aims to elevate awareness of student support programs and "wrap-around" services, ensuring students receive consistent messaging that focuses on the student journey. The group reviewed best practices for coordinating outreach and inreach across departments and integrating these efforts into the broader enrollment management plan, including strategies to meet FTES (Full-Time Equivalent Students) targets.

The partnership also focused on creating a sustainable, college-wide professional development framework that provides classified professionals, faculty, students, and administrators with support to implement the college’s strategic plan, and addresses the college's recent equity audit. By incorporating these structures directly into division planning, the college aims to ensure that every department shares responsibility for the student journey while maintaining a focus on persistence and retention.

Participation in the IEPI process positions the college to pursue critical seed grant funding to implement these specific marketing and professional development strategies. These financial resources will be instrumental in launching initiatives that expand access to services, leverage technology for more effective student communication, and focus on equity in outcomes. Formalizing these plans through the IEPI framework ensures the college is ready to secure the funding necessary to transform these strategic goals into campus realities.

Jake Kevari, vice president of Planning and Development and a lead on the initiative, emphasized the importance of this campus-wide integration. “This collaboration provides an important opportunity for our college to translate insights into meaningful strategies,” Kevari said. “I look forward to the results of this partnership as we work to align our professional development and marketing efforts to better support the student journey.”

The next visit, scheduled for May 1, will focus on reviewing actionable options and finalizing strategies for these initiatives. This ongoing work is a vital part of the college’s commitment to strengthening its institutional framework while providing direct, well-supported guidance to students throughout their academic careers. The college will review the strategies and options throughout May at various governance committees.
