Accreditation Corner: Spring 2025 Update

Welcome to the Spring 2025 issue of the Accreditation Corner, a semesterly newsletter covering MVC's accreditation process. In this edition, we're discussing our ongoing work, key contributors, and the review process for the upcoming ISER.

Half-Time Report

Over the spring semester, the Accreditation Work Group held four meetings, one for each of the four standards:

  • Standard 1 – Institutional Mission and Effectiveness
  • Standard 2 – Student Success
  • Standard 3 – Infrastructure and Resources
  • Standard 4 – Governance and Decision-Making

The group met with the contributors for those standards (i.e., key members of programs and committees linked to specific standards) to review and discuss the drafts of each standard. Revisions are being made based on this feedback and will lead to an Institutional Self-Evaluation Report that represents the work of numerous shareholders, programs, and committees throughout the college.

An updated draft will be shared with the college in the fall. We look forward to sharing MVC’s efforts.

Timeline

  1. SPRING 2025: Ensure institutional alignment to standards and complete draft of four standards for the Institutional Self-Evaluation Report (ISER)
  2. FALL 2025 through SPRING 2026: Share ISER draft through college and district governance processes and collect feedback from college community
  3. AUGUST 2026: ISER due
  4. SPRING 2027: Site visit

Accreditation is a process that ensures that an institution of higher education meets established standards of quality and provides degrees, certificates, and/or credits that students and the community can trust. The process also verifies that institutions have the resources and infrastructure to sustain and improve the quality of their educational offerings and services.
